Rihanna so far is serving concurrent life sentences to the fashion world from sports and eye wear, to couture. Besides completely annihilating the red carpet at this years Billboard Music Awards, Rihanna’s recent collaborations are as jazzy as the island beauty herself. Now I’m from New Orleans; so know when I say jazzy, it’s all kinds of spicy, provocative goodness. RiRi’s collab with Manolo Blahnik, Denim Desserts, are a sweet slice of exclusivity. Ranging in price from 8 to $3800, the collection is bold yet personal; each making a uniquely you statement from the confident, and stylishly carefree woman.
Also lit since their launch, PUMA partnered with the bad girl to drop what Vanity Fair is calling “the year’s must have shoe”. In earlier installments of the sneaker, the creeper had previously sold out during a pre-sale launch. Now two seasons later the $120-$150 “it shoe” is selling at over three times that amount on eBay. Rihanna is unquestionably one of the most influential figures in the fashion industry to date.
One of my fav projects from Rihanna this year is her Dior sun-glass collection. The futuristic design has an interesting geometrical flow; but what I love about the deal most is Rihanna’s position in the collaboration. After a successful collab last year, Dior called upon “Bad Girl Ri Ri” to not only serve as brand ambassador, but she’s also responsible for design outside the Rihanna collection. While Dior is in search of a Creative Director, RiRi is designing for the house; which is a first time privilege for Dior’s brand ambassadors. Here is one of the six variations available for sale at Dior stores. The shades range in price from $840 to $1950.
